Common Errors

Quick reference for error messages you might encounter.

Client Errors

"Connection refused"

The service on your server isn't running or isn't listening on the specified port. Verify the service is running and check the port number.

"Timeout waiting for control plane"

The client can't reach SeaWise's servers. Check your internet connection and ensure outbound HTTPS (port 443) is allowed.

"Invalid token"

The pairing has been revoked or is invalid. Unpair and re-pair the server:

  1. Click Disconnect in the client web UI

  2. Click Start Pairing to pair again

"Service name already exists"

You already have a service with that name on this server. Choose a different name or remove the existing service first.

Browser Errors

502 Bad Gateway

SeaWise can reach your client, but the client can't reach the local service. The service is either stopped, on the wrong port, or not reachable from the container. See Service Not Accessible.

404 Not Found

The subdomain doesn't match any registered service. Check that the service is registered and the URL is correct.

403 Forbidden

You're trying to access a shared dashboard but your email isn't on the whitelist. Contact the dashboard owner to add your email.

Connection Timed Out

The client isn't connected to SeaWise. The server may be offline or the client container may not be running.

Dashboard Errors

"Failed to pair"

The pairing code may have expired (10-minute limit) or was already used. Generate a new code from the client web UI.

"Subdomain already taken"

Another user already has that custom subdomain. Choose a different one.
